So as some of you may have surmised, I’m not very good at this “blogging” thing. Yes, it’s my blog and I can write if I want to, but the original intention of this space was to stay connected with all of you. It’s been 52 gigs since my last post… It seems I’m much better at communicating through the music.
2018 was in a word… awesome. It was a year of growth and exploration musically. Being able to focus exclusively on one band was refreshing. We were able to expand our reach and play new venues and I met a lot of people! Jim and I have always made a point of going out to support the local live music scene whenever we have a chance, and it’s rewarding to meet other musicians and like-minded individuals.
Into the present… April has been an incredibly busy (and incredibly satisfying) month for Bliss. We’ve played a lot, and we continue to see more and more familiar faces come out to hear us. I absolutely love that. The rest of the year is shaping up to be pretty amazing too. (Someone pinch me!)
One of the best things about performing music in a live venue is that I get to share an immediate connection with you. I get to see your reactions to our music from the stage, and once we finish our set, it’s an honour when you share with me how the music has moved you. Breaking the veil between us, performers and audience, is so important. I want you to be a part of this whole thing with us! Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said that “music is the universal language of mankind”. I want to know how it speaks to you. So please, do come and introduce yourself and share with us. We’re everyday people given an extraordinary opportunity to share our gifts with the world. I couldn’t be more blessed.
